Hi! I’m Nicole and I was born with a heart that ached for unloved animals. So as an adult I started doing what I can about it.
As a kid, my sensitive heart was not understood or nurtured. I grew up in a rural area with a farm-raised mom who was acquainted with the lives and deaths of animals, but I just could not accept the abuse and abandonment I saw. I cried all the time about things I couldn’t change with a need to help. At the same time, I was always wishing I could have the same indifferent attitude towards “the way things are” as the people around me so I could just be “normal.”
Now I know my heart is a blessing, and while it’s broken often in animal rescue, I know I’m doing everything I can to save as many innocent animals as possible.
My home is dedicated to senior rescue dogs – along with the two puppies I foster failed on in the COVID-19 quarantine (Finch and Sadie are in that photo with me above). A lot of the time I have a litter of bottle-feeding foster kittens toddling around here too.
It’s important to me to share the stories of the rescue pets I foster because I need the world to know that there are truly amazing potential best friends in rescue and in shelters across the country. It is my purpose to serve as a soft place to land while my fosters find their loving families. Loving my fosters so well that they forget ever being unwanted is my mission every day.
Some day I’d like more space in the country so I can keep doing more rescuing. Thanks for being here.
